Veolia Water opens office in Angola

To better service its Angola-based customers, OTV Sud Afrique, a subsidiary of Veolia Water Solutions & Technologies, has expanded its operations by opening an office in Luanda, Angola. This has effectively established a new subsidiary company, Veolia Águas de Angola.

The company specialises in large-scale municipal projects and technologies, and provides a dedicated channel for plant planning, design, execution and operation, in addition to project management capabilities to cater for turnkey water and wastewater projects in and around Luanda.

"Luanda is a very large city, with a population of around five million people living within the greater metro region," said Arnaud Gisclon, the Deputy Managing Director at Veolia Water Solutions & Technologies South Africa. "By establishing a permanent footprint in the country, we're better able to cater for the city's growing drinking and waste water treatment needs, as well as for any industrial water treatment requirements."

The office's current focus is to initiate and complete two large-scale municipal projects under the leadership of OTV Sud Afrique, headquartered in Marseille, France. Veolia in South Africa will support Veolia Águas de Angola by taking on smaller water projects, as well as with continuous chemicals supply and a range of services.

"Angola has a strong economy and there are many exciting opportunities in the water sector for both municipal and industrial applications. Veolia can now offer our complete portfolio of solutions, which includes more than 350 proprietary technologies and a comprehensive service capability, for both of these markets with the support of our Marseilles office, as well as from Veolia in South Africa and Namibia," said Gisclon.

The office employs a permanent staff compliment of 11 people, with skills sets including management, technical, financial and administration. Bernard Fortino has been appointed the office's Administrator, and Alexandre Piquet the Projects Director.
