BMW Group South Africa

This automotive plant water treatment project consisted of the design, construction and commissioning of an automated waste water blending station, micro filtration and reverse osmosis plant for recovering water from four different waste water systems. The plant, capable of producing 20 m3/hr of re-useable water, is downstream of existing automotive plant water treatment clarifiers and sand filtration systems.

This plant was the first micro filtration unit built by Engineered Systems, a division of VWS South Africa. BMW Group South Africa aims to be a zero discharge manufacturer in the near future and considers this automotive plant water treatment facility the first step to achieving this goal. This plant supplements the existing VWS South Africa reverse osmosis plant and permeate storage with UV circulation.
